Hi Latasha,

First, it's a shame that you end up paying so much more money towards the judgment than you originally owed. Sadly, this is often what happens when collection agencies get involved. They tack on additional interest and fees - some of which are not entirely legal.

Second, the issue of paying the judgment and removing it from your credit reports are two different things. The bureaus are responsible for whether they report it or not and so from one perspective it doesn't matter to them whether it is paid, unpaid, or in payment.

The best case scenario would have been to negotiate a payment in return for deletion but you are beyond that point. So, I would suggest that you dispute the questionable judgment with the bureaus directly. They send this off to pay by the hour workers who verify - or don't verify- the accuracy of the listing. If the judgment holder fails to verify within the time specified, it will come off your credit report.

If that fails to work, then Lexington does has some alternative methods such as creditor intervention or debt validation. They do have some services that are affordable for almost any budget. You can see what they can do and see if there is a service that fits your budget by calling them today. The call is free so you don't have to worry about being charged :) Here is the number: 1-800-230-1954.

Hello Ben,

I have a question if you are able to answer without a financial fee required. Here is my situation and then I'll asked the question and thank you for the letter. I am currently paying on a judgement by that was filed last year by wage garnishment. I have a month and half left to have it paid in full and just about paid twice as much of what is on my credit report. My question is can I still get this judgment removed even if I am still paying on it, is it still possible for pay for delete or get it removed due to the amount being reported is half the amount I am paying. Lexington Law Firm has been a choice for me, but now I do not have the extra funds to get started. Can you help me?!

The judgment is in error and should have been for Jacquelin Edwards only.
I called the property management company and informed them that I would be moving and would not be part of the rental, they informed me that the notification would have
to be in writing. I then went to their office to inform the property manager "John" of my intent and to give him the letter informing him of such intent, of course "John" was not in so I informed his assistant of the fact and gave her the letter that informed them of my termination of my residence and termination of the month to month agreement.
Several weeks later "John" called me about the rent and the property in question, I informed him that I had called, and the went into the office to personally informed and presented a letter of intent to his assistant, "John" stated "he didn't have a letter and that his company was in the process of dividing. I informed . I informed "John" to call me if he had any other problems with this as he had both
of my tele. numbers.

My letter was delivered six weeks before I was to vacate, although I was already moved out. I had occasion to go by the property some weeks later to find a work party repainting the place
I stopped to talk to Mr. Johnson, he stated that my daughter had been evicted and did
I know of her where abouts. To my understanding, Jacquelin had lost all the property../Which included my bed,
which was a near new select comfort mattress in its custom bed frame, together worth new over $3500.and the security deposit which I had provided.
The point here is, if the property management company had to resolve anything with me they had both my cell and home telephone numbers, why did they not call me? also.. why was I not served to appear in court? Why did I only find that there was a judgment against me when a collector called YEARS AFTER THE FACT? .The termination notice I provided the company with was to the best of my knowledge was over three months prior to the eviction.

         CHARGE OFF
I have no knowledge of a charge off to any of my accounts I did see it on the credit report, but I do not know what that is for.
